Quakers headed to North Jersey last weekend to take on Seton Hall in the final game of the regular season, a game in which determined which team would finish the regular season in first place in the CSCHC and which team would end up in second. Quakers left nothing to the imagination as they routed the Pirates 7-2 in a game that can be broken down into a microcosm for the entire season.
The Quakers controlled the game from the opening puck drop but after the first period the score did not reflect that, Pirates went into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead despite the fact the Quakers controlled the puck in the offensive zone for most of the period. With the leadership of Captain Hayden Stephen and veteran goalie Xander Kostelink the team came out focused and ready to play in the second period. Quakers continued to grind down the Pirates in the 2nd period, scoring 3 goals in a span of 5 minutes half through the 2nd. Junior Spencer Tuohy started off the festivities followed by Jerry Xiang and Zach Qian to give UPenn a 3-1 lead heading into the 3rd. Quakers never took their foot off the gas in 3rd scoring 4 more goals, and leaving nothing to doubt winning their last regular season game 7-2 on the road and finishing in 1st place.
With that win the Quakers secured not only another important league win but also secured their second and back to back CSCHC regular season league championships. Quakers have earned the first overall seed and a first round bye in the CSCHC playoffs taking place at the Class of 1923 Arena Presidents Day Weekend (2/17-2/19). Quakers will play the Saturday (2/18) at 12:15 PM against the highest remaining seed in the tournament. Come out and support the Quakers AT HOME as they look for another CSCHC title and bid to the ACHA Regional tournament!
